Well after our first Buy Order and the costs of fees and things we shouldn't buy we found an RV finally.
Our first RV on the buy Order had these things. Just so you can see how it breaks down here is what we had.
The first FEE of $1990. Which was just listed as "Optional Items", when asked about it the salesman said it was for Advertising and Marketing. This in my opinion is an operating/business expense. The dealer would get this as a tax write-off but if they are charging their customers it seems they would get taxed on it and not have it as a tax write-off. THIS right away would eb something I would negotiate to NOT PAY.
The next FEE is the $95.5 fee which they had listed as Doc Stamps. This also was misleading because in Florida the actual Doc Stamps is .35 cents on every $100 so it should have been roughly $742.14, so this would have been a surprise to me.
The next FEE is Dealer Prep and Delivery of $999. This is a Built in dealer profit item, you can negotiate it or you can let it go since it might be easier to concede this and negotiate something else. In either case the dealer is in it for maximum profit and you are in it for maximum savings.
The next FEE was $6.50 which was listed as Battery and Tire Disposal. however in Florida the only MANDATORY charge for this by state law is about $1.50 so not sure why they feel they need to charge $6.50, again. negotiable, if you have an idea of what it should be.
The next FEE is Tag and Title of $450 this is a general cost and is probably not accurate but this will be about the amount the dealer will estimate. Yours may be less depending on trade or other personal factors.
Ultimately this was not the RV we settled on and it came down to financing so the next Buy Order looked like this.

The only FEE here is one for 2120.55 which breaks down like this. $890 for Dealer Delivery and Prep, $450 Registration and Title. $780.55 Florida Doc Stamp Fee. This fee in total beats the other "Fees" from the previous dealer $3139 for all the fees. I believe they separate them out to make is seem like less when you can see there is over a $1,000 more in fees.
Needless to say the next RV will be our New to Us 2015 Tiffin Phaeton. (In the next Post I will explain our research and the things we went through to decide on this coach.
